The Community Face Mask Project
The Canadian Government and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are now officially recommending that people wear a face mask when venturing out in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies).
Given the difficulties sourcing cotton face masks in sufficient quantities to meet increasing demand, on Monday April 6th, we launched the Triple-Win Community Face Mask Project. Through this project, we are paying sewists at home in need of revenue to make 100% cotton face masks for willing customers who need masks and want to support a company they love (us!) at a time when sales are dwindling and our future is uncertain.
Each of our sewists hand makes the masks with love in a white-ish colour. All masks follow a pattern, conform to our core criteria, and are made with 100% cotton fabric. We ensure that consistent standards are applied so you can be sure to receive a high quality plastic-free face mask.
By purchasing a triple-win mask, you are not only protecting yourself, but you are also supporting a local sewist in need of revenue. We cannot thank you enough for your support and for maintaining our sales revenue at a time when plastic-free living may be less of a priority for many. The community face masks are available in two sizes, a standard size and a smaller size for children. You can purchase your face masks here.
