It's World Environment Day... and it's never been more important.

Today, June 5th, is World Environment Day. World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries. Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that draws attention to a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2019 is “Air pollution”. Breathing clean, safe and healthy air is a human right. And yet, so much of the world suffers from the consequences of air pollution.

As advocates for a world with less plastic, we can't help but see plastic tied into every single environmental theme. From climate change, to air pollution, to species loss, plastic plays a role. We need to reduce our plastic consumption, and we hope World Environment Day is a wake up call to everyone.
