Using a straight razor requires a couple of other tools to maintain the cutting edge so you can pass it down to the next generation in perfect condition. You must keep it very sharp for it to function effectively. For this, you will need a
razor stone or hone and a
razor strop (plus
strop dressing). After use, a straight razor should be cleaned and dried, and stored in a dry place. If it will not be used for a while, it's a good idea to coat the blade lightly with a layer of oil. Keep in mind, this is a very sharp and potentially dangerous shaving instrument and should be kept far from children's reach. We also recommend, for everyone's safety, including your own, not to shave with a straight razor with children around.
